Policies and Procedures

Please call us, if you would like personal assistance in selecting a course appropriate for your needs.

Order Options:

You may order online, by phone, fax or mail. Visa, Mastercard, Discover Card and American Express are accepted.

Your Account:

Upon placing your order online, you will provide information that will allow you to access testing materials and documentation of completion online. This information is protected by the use of a password. If you have ordered by phone, fax or mail, and wish to take your test online, you will need to set up an account online before submitting answers. Call or email us to initiate this process. We will enter your course information into your account history.

Purchase Orders:

A purchase order can be requested by phone. We will ship your order and bill to your company, as needed.

Shipping:

Orders are sent Priority Mail within 24-48 hours. Overnight mailing and International shipping are available upon request.

Course Materials:

All courses include either a book or online text material, as indicated. When ordering a "Book and Test" online, the book will be mailed and the test, evaluation materials and certificate will be accessed online. If you order by phone, fax or mail, we will ship the book, test materials and evaluation. If you do not need to purchase the book through us, you may order the "Test Only."

Free Viewing of Online Texts:

Online text material may be read online before ordering the course. This text material is copyrighted and cannot be distributed in any form without permission.

Tests:

All tests (excluding PhotoTherapy) are available on this web site. If you order through the Internet, download the test to use as you read the book and then submit answers online. Tests include multiple choice questions and a discussion question, unless otherwise indicated. The number of questions on each test is listed in the course details. Our tests are designed to help integrate the material presented. The credit hours approved for each course include the time involved in taking the test.

No Deadline:

There is no time limit for completion of the course. If you do not need credits in one renewal period, the course can be completed in the next. (It is your responsibility to confirm that we are a current provider for your state at the time of your test completion.)

Determination of Credit Hours:

The number of credits awarded reflects the time involved in reading the text and taking the test. (A course offering 10 CE credits will take you approximately 10 hours to complete.) A panel of psychologists, social workers, and mental health counselors field-test all of our courses to determine the average number of hours involved in completing the work.

Documentation of Completion:

After you submit your answers, score a minimum of 80%, and complete an evaluation, your documentation of completion will be ready to print. If you order through the mail, phone or fax and prefer to mail in your answers, a certificate will be sent to you promptly. If you score less than 80%, you may retake the test one time without charge. (Subsequent retakes will be $25 each.)

Duplication of Lost Certificates:

There is no charge for replacement of your documentation of completion. We maintain records of all completed courses. If you have completed your test online, you may print a duplicate certificate at any time by accessing your "Order History" under My Account.

Refund Policy:

Your satisfaction is important to us. All unused course materials may be returned in new condition within 10 days. You will receive a full refund minus a $10 shipping and handling fee. If the course is exchanged for another, the processing fee will be waived.

Grievance Procedure:

Participants encountering a problem or who have a complaint about any aspect of Affect Plus' services or courses are encouraged to contact the Director, Karen Zabriskie, by calling, emailing or writing as soon as possible. Resolution of the concern will focus on both the individual problem as well as implementation of changes to prevent future occurrences. Feedback will be provided to the participant who initiated the complaint throughout this process.

Affect Plus will comply with all legal and ethical responsibilities in conformance with the APA, NBCC and NASW Code of Ethics. This includes non-discriminatory practices in program content and treatment of program participants.

American Disability Act:

If you need special accommodations for taking any course, please contact us. You have the option to take these courses online or by mail. You may complete these courses in a setting that best meets your needs. If you are legally blind and require a reader, we will offer a 20% discount for the course.

All course materials, including online text material, test questions, and design are subject to copyright laws. Purchasing a course entitles you to download one copy of the text material and test questions for your personal use to complete your work. You may not distribute electronically, or in any form, multiple copies of any of the course materials without written permission from the copyright owner.

Affect Plus does not sell, rent, or trade personal information collected from our participants for advertising purposes. Relevant information is shared with providers when requested for reports and audits. Email information will be used for sending updates on our courses. You may request to opt out of these updates, if you choose.

Cookies:

A cookie is a small piece of information that a web server sends to your browser and that is stored on your computer. Affect Plus uses cookies on this web site to temporarily store session data such as user login, shopping cart and order information during your visit. These cookies are not saved permanently on your computer and are not used to track your visits to this or other sites.

Security:

Affect Plus takes every precaution to protect our participants' information both online and off-line. Throughout the process, whenever our participants enter information, including credit card information during the order process, that information is encrypted and is posted to a secure server with the best encryption software in the industry - SSL. You can tell when you are on a secure page that uses SSL by ithe web address (it will start with https://) and by the padlock icon on the bottom of Web browsers such as Netscape Navigator and Microsoft Internet Explorer (it will become locked).
