Mastering Clinical Challenges
by Gillian Butler, Ph.D., Melanie Fennell, Ph.D., and Ann Hackmann, Ph.D.
CE Credits: 12 hours
Book and Test: $125
Test Only: $105
There have been major advances in the treatment of anxiety disorders in the past several years. Despite this, there remain frustrating obstacles to reducing symptoms and bringing about lasting change. This invaluable book offers insights and interventions which go "beyond the manual" when working with individuals with any anxiety disorder. The authors' extensive clinical experience and research include ways to work with those with complex or co-morbid presentations, as well.

Using descriptive case examples, the authors identify problems that arise at various stages of treatment and then present creative solutions. Constructing clear case formulations allow the therapist and client to make decisions together. Promoting metacognitive awareness and exploring imagery, memories, emotions and bodily sensations facilitate engagement and change. Developing individualized behavioral experiments help enhance whole-person transformation. Three major issues that interfere with progress are discussed. Also included are strategies to end therapy productively and help the client maintain gains.

This is an indispensable guide for clinicians who wish to develop their skills and help clients experience significant change with anxiety disorders.
