Online Course with Video-Streaming plus DVD: $75
Our Iraq and Afghanistan veterans who have returned from the war zone and may be suffering from PTSD deserve competent assessment and treatment. This introductory course draws on resources developed by the National Center for Posttraumatic Stress Disorder, the US Department of Veteran Affairs. It enables the practitioner to begin to understand the mental health impact of those who are at risk for developing PTSD. Lessons learned from Vietnam veterans with chronic PTSD include the importance of helping veterans process their traumatic experiences and manage PTSD symptoms, depression and substance abuse. Interventions in key areas of work and interpersonal relationships are also addressed.
The online video features a conversation with Dr. Frank Ochberg, a leading pioneer in the field of PTSD. His compassionate discussion provides encouragement and insights for therapists who work with our returning veterans and their families.
National Center for Posttraumatic Stress Disorder's stated mission is "to advance the clinical care and social welfare of America's veterans through research, education, and training in the science, diagnosis, and treatment of PTSD and stress-related disorders."
