Continuing Education for Mental Health Professionals

Affect Plus courses are offered for Master and Doctoral level continuing education for psychologists, mental health counselors, marriage & family therapists, and social workers. It is our goal:

  • To provide access to relevant, stimulating and well-researched texts, selected to expand the practitioner’s knowledge base and promote critical, in-depth thinking related to one’s theoretical framework and professional practice.

  • To select texts written by recognized experts that foster scientifically guided habits of inquiry, sound ethical principles, and balanced clinical judgment.

  • To promote the acquisition of knowledge and new clinical skills that increase professional competence through a test which helps integrate the material into professional practice.

  • To elicit feedback from participants, to identify their professional interests and concerns.

  • To network with professionals to provide additional resources, as needed.

Extra care is taken to insure that your work will be of value to you.

Books, DVDs and online material are reviewed by our Advisory Board, which is composed of psychologists, mental health counselors and social workers. They determine if the material is relevant, is well written, and maintains the standards of their fields.

Tests undergo an extensive writing and editing process. A panel of 5-8 professionals field test the course, making revisions and keeping track of the time involved in order to determine the appropriate number of hours approved for the course.
